2019 Merlot

It's been a few years since Josh put a Merlot in barrel...his first one was in 2016 and it was also the very first wine he ever made on a large scale basis. His hope for the 2019 was to recreate that first vintage but with what he believes are subtle changes to make this one even better than the original!  An early freeze in 2019 tried to scare him but we held firm and got the ripeness he wanted.  A medium ruby color, this Merlot is very savory with aromas of cardamom, anise, dark plums, and a wisp of hazelnut.  The palate is bright with small, round tannins and big flavors of vanilla, pomegranate, Bing cherries, dried herbs, and a touch of clove.  We think this wine will pair nicely with a seared flank steak topped with chimichurri and garlic mashed potatoes. Drink 2022-2034.
